Spring Break - Day One

"Mom, did you know that there are hidden staircases in the museum? Some of them that you can take and some of them that are off limits?"

"Really?"

"And mom, I got to pet a lion's head! A REAL lion's head! They let the lion die first...they didn't hunt the lion, because that's mean, but they have the lion's head in the museum and they let us bet it!"

...

"AND a SHARK! A real shark, it was like five minutes long..."

"How big was it?"

"This big mom!"

"Oh. The shark was 2-3 feet long. Did you get to pet it's teeth?"

"Two to three feet long. K. Nope. They took the teeth out to put on display. But I got to pet a REAL SHARK! And, Mom! I got to pet a SNAKE!"

"A real live snake?"

"YEAH! A real live banana snake!"

"Did it purr?"

"Ummm....no, but it licked me!"

"Ah. Wanted to see how you taste, eh?"

"No ... smell. Wanted to see how I smell. Did you know that snakes smell with their tongues, mom?

FRIDAY!!!!

Today was a pretty day at school. We went on a nature walk. I saw leaves that were breathing. And I also had tree blood on me. Vap. Did you have a good day? I did not get the water bottle for scoring 100% on my spelling challenge yesterday, but I know, you do not always have to win.

Yesterday was the Spelling Challenge

Yesterday, Ciaran's school, Bradley International, did their annual Spelling Challenge. This is meant to be a fundraiser for the PTO. Ciaran hit me up for money ... and was given a spelling list from his teacher. He received the kindergarten spelling list on March 12. On the 13th, his teacher sent home the second grade list, as a challenge for him.

So, yesterday was the test. The first time Ciaran has ever really had a test at school. Which in and of itself is a HUGE milestone.

But that he got 100% of the questions CORRECT on the test?????? BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!

I did 100 percent, perfect on my test today. Any questions? Please?

Today, I saw a bird. I saw a bird. That was beautiful. That just amazed me. And today I learned that grizzly bears can stand up and when they stand up, they are like the biggest basketball players. And grizzly bears can eat grey wolves. That's what I learned today.

An Opening Blog - by mom

Dear world.

What an amazing place you are. What amazingness we see, we feel, we experience every day, a gift from you.

We take you for granted. We take life for granted. Everyday. We let life pass us by. We do not celebrate the beauty that is waking up every day.

In response, I am opening a blog, an online diary for my son to write about the world in which he lives, which he sees and experiences every day.

Occasionally, I will write a note. Or save a picture or test that my son has completed. Just to share the beauty of his precious innocence with you.
